Millions of tons of electronic waste is generated yearly. Much of this waste has valuable materials which can be recycled for profit. Unfortunately, much of the material is disposed of in dump sites. Buried, these can potentially release dangerous chemicals in to the aquifer.
Some of the most valuable electronics are computers and their components. Rare metals such as gold and silver can be found on the boards, CPUs, and RAMs. But other materials, such as copper and aluminum are also common, and can be profitable in larger quantities.
